About us

The Progressive Initiative was founded in 2007 by Stuart Barton, a South African-educated financier, to encourage innovative political discourse in South Africa. Stuart has lived and worked on four continents and presently lives in Hong Kong. Stuart holds a Bachelors degree from University of Cape Town and an MBA from the University of Surrey.

Many of the ideas presented here are the result of his experiences. Before founding the Pi , Stuart had investigated the possible formation of a special administrative region somewhere in southern Africa. The Pi continues this initiative.
